£165 to those who need it not £1b to those who don't

Yesterday Jean Lambert announced the Green pledge to increase the non-means tested state pension to £165 a week. It was National Pensions Action Day yesterday and it is great to see such a strong statement from the Party.

In contrast, the Indy reports on the £1 billion nuclear white elephant. There are so many reasons to say no to nukes and this is one of them. £1 billion would go a long way to funding renewable energy, to insulate lots of houses, to increase public transport. It could also fund and increase in the state pension for 300,000 pensioners for one year (adjusted for rounding errors on my back of fag packet).

I know where I'd not want my money spent...
