Kent police broke the law

I was one of the thousands of people stopped and searched at Kingsnorth in 2008 when police decided that everyone going to the Climate Camp was carrying a weapon or something that might be used for criminal damage.

"Under Section 1 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 police must have a "reasonable suspicion" that an individual is carrying prohibited weapons or articles that could be used for criminal damage."

In the opinion of the police, the crayons and toilet roll that were confiscated were banned items rather than things for kid to draw with and to er... wipe arses with. They searched food that had to be carried to the camp.

The only violence during the whole week was from the police. The protesters' behaviour was impeccable. The police should be ashamed of themselves.
