Terror threat increased without evidence of threat

According to MI5...

The Home Secretary said in a statement:

"The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre has today raised the threat to the UK from international terrorism from SUBSTANTIAL to SEVERE. This means that a terrorist attack is highly likely, but I should stress that there is no intelligence to suggest than an attack is imminent."

So no threat of an imminent attack then, just a highly likely terrorist attack at some point in the future. Next century maybe? A terrorist force that has yet to be formed campaigning on an issue yet to exist?

Not the most helpful statement from the Home Secretary. Rising the fear factor is a well rehearsed political move that the US have a long history of. Let's hope that Labour are not playing this game in the run up to an election.
