I've just signed the manifesto pledge for Help the Hospices after receiving a letter from my local one The Heart of Kent Hospice. The hospice movement is great and fills a massive need that the NHS fails to fill. They do a great job!
Of course, it would be even better if we didn't need to have charities such as these propping up public services. Help for Heroes is the other big example of a charity that should not exist - it is appalling that government sends people into war and then fails to provide adequate care when the come back injured.
Quality end of life care should be universal and not be reliant on charities.
