Get Carter fails in Kent, Fox hunt suceeds in Westminster

The leadership bid for Kent County Council is about the only interesting  bit of political challenge on the council in recent years with 74 of the 80 odd councillors being Tory. Ferrin and Chard decided to 'Get Carter' but have failed to oust him. Not that replacing one Tory with another will change anything - they will all decimate public services. Youth, elderly, social services, childrens are all under attack. About the only sensible thing being said is Carter's opposition to some of the education reforms.

Fox, on the other hand, has been ousted. Probably takes some heat off of the Oliver Letbin debacle of disposing of confidential information in public parks - might have been easier and safer to send straight to wikileaks. Also takes the heat off of Lansley and the Lords. Good news to help bury bad news?

While Letbin has increased transparency albeit wrongly, Fox has shown just how committed the Tories are to dodgy dealings, lobbyists and feathering their own nests.
