Disgust at BAE

It is a very poor state of affairs when the arms industry is seen a a good thing, so I was again saddened when the expansion of BAE is trumpeted in the local press. It seems that they are taking on more apprentices in Rochester (and elsewhere).

This love affair with the arms industry seems quite insidious. The local grammar school, Maidstone Girls Grammar School, has had a relationship with BAE and may well still have according to their recent prospectus.

Nigel Whitehead, group managing director of BAE said this to the Kent Messenger: "This is a win-win situation for our apprentices, our company and the wider economy.” So the third largest arms company in the world which exports weapons to more than half of the countries in the world is proud to recruit young people to make more weapons to kill others with, and worse still schools are encouraging this.

If you want to know more check out CAAT and don't forget the Al-Yamamah arms deal and Labour's complicitness in it.
