Complaint to the PCC

While researching the media's continued assault on anyone who doesn't have a job, I came across an article published by the Daily Express. The article itself was clearly written to stir up hatred with their readers, which it duly achieved. Those readers then posted their hatred in the comments section.

The comments are simply disgusting. I reported them to the Express last month to be moderated. The Express have refused to do this so this morning I reported this to the Press Complaints Commission and I encourage others to do so too.

I made the following comments to the PCC:

The Express is responsible for the webpage which published comments that breach the following codes:

• Harassment: Journalists must not engage in intimidation, harassment or persistent pursuit
• Children: Editors must not use the fame, notoriety or position of a parent or guardian as sole justification for publishing details of a child’s private life.
• Discrimination: prejudicial or pejorative reference to an individual's race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation 

This online article allows comments to be posted by readers. The majority of the comments breach your code of practice and I have reported these comments using the website's reporting function, however the comments remain.

The comments constitute harassment and are of an extremely offensive nature. They are posted and freely accessible on the Express's website and no attempt to moderate has been made which suggests that the Express is responsible for them.
