The wealth tax

It is fantastic to see such great coverage of the launch of our wealth tax policy (and I'm rather proud to have been the proposer of this to be party policy a few years back!)

Superb stuff on the BBC, Guardian, and New Statesman

It is very clear to me that the inequalities in this country are one of the drivers of some real social problems. Redressing that balance while supporting people on lower incomes has to be a priority.

While Labour, Lib Dems and the Tories all back austerity measures designed to cut services to try to balance public spending, cuts that really impact on people who need the services most while the rich sit back and get richer, the Greens have a clear plan to stop this.

Putting £40bn back into the public purse, plus ending the appalling levels of tax avoidance and bringing in a Tobin Tax would close the spending gap while protecting public services and supporting those in real need.
