Save Whitstable Crown Post Office

I have written to Paula Vennells (CEO of Post Office Ltd) expressing my concern at the repeated attempts to close Whitstable's post office. Local campaigners are arranging a public meeting and I am supporting their attempts to keep this valuable resource open.

Dear Ms Vennells,

I have been contacted by a number of deeply concerned residents of Whitstable that the Post Office branch in Gladstone Rd, Whitstable may be closed under your leadership and I am urging you to reconsider and pledge to keep the branch open and its employees in work.

A year ago, local people campaigned and protested along with the CWU (union) to preserve this historic service to prevent the loss of a vital and full service to local people. Furthermore Whistable will lose an efficient public service, with experienced, trained staff and permanent buildings, dedicated to providing post office services. There will be adverse and far reaching effects on local traders and staff in privatised post offices are likely to get less pay and training and worse conditions.

The impact on Whistable will be significant and far reaching and I am therefore urging you to reconsider your position.
