Letter to the KM on climate change

Dear Editor,

In last week's KM as November turned warm and the floods came, you asked "What's up with our weather". These are exactly the conditions that were forecast by climate scientists for the South East of England and we should not be surprised when they arrive as governments across the world have so far failed to act to prevent them. So far.

This month sees probably the last chance that the world has to secure a fair international deal on climate change to prevent further climate chaos. Already 300,000 people are dying each year as a direct result of climate change and climate refugees are already coming to this country.

On Saturday 5th December, tens of thousands will take to the streets in London calling for action at the Copenhagan summit. Maidstone Greens will be joining the "The Wave" and we urge everyone who is concerned for the future to support this call for action.

Stuart Jeffery
Green Party parliamentary candidate for Maidstone and the Weald
