15000 homes for 12000 people

This week Maidstone Greens launched a report that demonstrated why our local council has got their sums wrong on the demand for homes. Aside from the absurdity that has KCC saying that the population in Maidstone will rise by 12,000 over the next 20 years and MBC saying that we need 15,000 homes to put them in, we have calculated that after you taking into consideration the predicted reduction in the number of people per home, that around 10,000 homes are needed.

A position which I explained on Radio Kent on Wednesday morning. What is more, the reduction in the number of people per home that is predicted (by central government) means that we should be building smaller affordable homes for them.

We've identified enough brownfield sites in the town centre, that along with windfall sites continuing at the current level mean that there is no need to build on greenfield in this borough.

Unlike the Conservatives, Lib Dems and Labour in Maidstone, we didn't give up on brown field sites.
