Gallaghers want to destroy more greenfield in Maidstone

Saddened to see Gallaghers wanting to build on greenfield land just months after they won the right to destroy 80 acres of ancient woodland in Maidstone.

We really have to protect countryside, farm land and woodland or we will simply store up trouble for future generations. The perceived need for economic growth that pervades society and motivates the rich has to end. Relentless pursuit of growth and profit is destroying the Earth.

This is from the KM:

The company has submitted a joint planning application with Scarab Sweepers for a mixed-use office, light and general industrial, warehousing, storage and distribution plant across 40 acres near Junction 8 of the M20.
The proposal for Waterside Park in Hollingbourne is close to the hugely controversial Kent International Gateway site (KIG) that almost the entire borough spent three years fighting.
