Letter to the Kent Messenger:
Dear Sir,
While the Lib Dems have shouted about how they are fighting against
building on green spaces, I was shocked when they decided not to
represent voters at last week's scrutiny meeting. Their boycott
represents a real dereliction of duty to the public and means that
they have forgone their only real chance to improve the draft Local
Plan.
Even though I am not currently a councillor, I attended the scrutiny
meeting to show those there who have a say that the Greens are
passionate about these issues.
This all comes less than a year after the Lib Dems voted to allow
building on green spaces around Maidstone. A more cynical person
might suggest that they say one thing in public but have a wholly
different attitude when it comes to making decisions on the council.
Stuart Jeffery, Green Party
campaigner for Fant Ward
