Appalling animal exports to return to Ramsgate

I am appalled at the news that live animal exports are going to resume from Ramsgate tomorrow. This barbaric practice deserves no place in a supposedly civilised society.

The director of Channel Livestock is now a convicted criminal after a verdict on the suffering of animals at a trial just last month.

Demonstrations reconvene tomorrow and while I can't make tomorrow's, I will be there soon.

As there are clear moral grounds for the ban on live exports and legislation gives provision for the restriction of free trade to protect the health of animals under Article 36 of the Treat on the Functioning of the European Union, so I have asked our Green MEP, Keith Taylor, to see if it can be applied in this case.
