Ipsos MORI poll out today put the Green Party at 6% in a general election poll, double the level from March 2009 in the run up to the last European election. In the north, the polling is at 9% placing us higher than the Lib Dems.
Although people vote differently in different elections, this bodes very well for the coming European elections where most voters are very clear that proportional representation means they can vote Green and know that their vote always counts. To get support in a GE poll has to be good.
Obviously, one poll has to be seen in the context of others and the general theme over the past few years is an increasingly consistent rise with most GE polls now showing over 3%.
