Labour's candidate for Maidstone and the Weald

Welcome to the race for Maidstone and the Weald, Allen!

Interestingly the new Labour candidate, Allen Simpson, seems to be taking the Conservative's side in the housing debate, suggesting that the Borough needs 20,000 homes and that they should be built on the countryside, according to the KM. It is good to have a range of opinions to go into the elections.

I look forward to debating the issues with him.

Hello Stuart,

Thank you for your kind welcome- it's lovely to be campaigning in my home town.

The issue I was hopping to raise was that we need to be smart about where we put our housing stock, which certainly I know there is a need for.

I know you will agree it is important we don't get stuck on definitions of green/brownfield, since there are a good deal of spots of real ecological importance which are at risk in an 'in filling' strategy. I hope we can get the council to think about sustainable alternatives which minimise environmental impact.

I hope we can debate how best to do it over the next year!

Allen Simpson,
Labour Candidate for Maidstone and the Weald.

Hi Allen,

I'm comfortable with the need to protect the biodiversity in our towns as well as our country.

Looking forward to the debates. Especially as Labour don't exactly have a strong record on the environment (or social justice, foreign policy, health, etc...)!
