Looks like our Maidstone MP, Ann Widdecombe, has joined the 'only first class for me' brigade. I'm using the train to get to work at the moment and certainly don't go 1st class! Trouble is, the journey is either three trains and one bus ride or two buses and a train ride, either way it takes about an hour and three quarters to travel 19 miles. I make that 11mph. It also costs more than 50p per mile to use this route.
The journey by car is all dual carriage way and takes 25 mins.
If we are to reduce the number of car journeys, we desparately need more public transport, that runs more frequently and is affordable.
