RBS Protest in Maidstone tomorrow

Maidstone FOE are holding a protest outside the Royal Bank of Scotland tomorrow against the funding of oil tar sands mining.

From Facebook:

Date: Friday, 04 December 2009
Time: 15:45 - 16:45
Location: Outside RBS in town
Street: 94 High St
Town/City: Maidstone, United Kingdom

The royal bank of scotland spends almost £8 billiion a year on funding tar sand projects in Canada, thats £8 billion of the taxpayers money being spent on one of the most enviromentally damaging projects on the planet!!

This project It is destroying the homelands of Indigenous communities, polluting their drinking water, destroying an area of ancient forest larger than England.

What can we do?

We are going to stage a demonstration outside the maidstone branch, with some of us lieing on the ground dead on top of big oil splats. Others will be talking to passerbys about the impact of the bank and the tar sands.

Or just come along and show your support.

Also a camera team from the BBC will be there, so remember, BIG SMILES!
